Thank you to all who decorated trees and to all who visited the Old Courthouse Museum to view their handiwork. We could not do this event without the help of so many community members and museum volunteers.
This year, participants got to choose their own theme for their trees. There was incredible creativity and skill presented. Thirty-six groups, organizations, families, classrooms, churches and businesses decorated trees for the 2022 celebration. Museum volunteers added their creative talents on a few more trees. Trees were provided by ICHS and decorations and lights were provided by the decorators.
There were 22 houses displayed in the 2022 Christmas House Gallery. A "gingerbread" house could be made of any medium or theme.
Trees were starting to "grow" at the museum by the middle of October, with November 1 marking the day trees were ready for decorations. The Christmas Tree Lane was open for voting on December 1. Our program "The Legend of St. Nicholas" was presented by Terry Lynch on Sunday, December 4 along with our
open house. This was well-attended and many others visited the museum during the month of December.
People's Choice winners were determined by donations from museum visitors. Proceeds are used to support the upkeep, heating and restoration of the Old Courthouse Museum. In addition, three independent judges rated the trees in the categories of BEST USE OF THEME, MOST ORIGINAL, BEST DECORATED and BEST HAND-CRAFTED DECORATIONS. The Houses were judged on MOST ORIGINAL and BEST DECORATED.
