Volunteers needed before/during/after Harvest Daze

HELP NEEDED! We cannot do this event without lots of helpers, and we love it when members and community get involved. The ICHS can use several volunteers in a variety of areas for Harvest Daze!!

Now, before you pass this item by, please note, a lot of the areas where help is needed require very little time or energy! We can use help in all areas! You would still have plenty of time to enjoy all the things Harvest Daze has to offer and yet know you played a big part in its success!

Save us a call and phone 815-432-2215 to volunteer!!
Thank You In Advance!!

Can you help us in any of the following?
DONATIONS
  • Donations of corn stalks, bales of hay or straw to decorate museum grounds.
  • Donations of cookies and other baked goods for Victorian Room Bake Sale-delivered Friday or Saturday morning.
  • Monetary donations to the Victorian Room Bake Sale or to offset expenses of food supplies for the Red Barn.
START PLANNING NOW TO PARTICIPATE
  • Enter the "Cartoon Pumpkins" contest, celebrating the KID in all of us. Sponsored by ICGS.
  • Enter one of the Harvest Daze Shows: Put a car, motorcycle or truck into the Cruise-In, or a tractor or engine into the Antique Tractor Show.
  • Do you have something to sell? Antiques, hand-crafted items, artisan wares, flowers, bakery items or fresh produce? Sign up to be a vendor.
FRIDAY
  • Cookie counters, putting cookies on the scale and baggers on Friday.
  • Volunteers for Friday night fish fry. A good way to make sure you eat.
EARLY MORNING SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
  • Help with early morning set up of Harvest Daze - help vendor set up, help set up the Red Barn, bring out items for museum table.
  • People to direct traffic as vendors arrive in the early morning on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Help in setting up Victorian Room bake sale and shift workers.
MORNINGS OF EVENT
  • Pick up barricades on Friday.
  • Set up barricades early Saturday and Sunday mornings.
  • Take barricades back on Monday.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY - TIME THROUGHOUT THE DAY
  • Museum sitters, someone to sit at and control elevator on each floor.
  • Workers and raffle ticket sellers in the museum booth - just a 2-hour shift would be a big help. Many helpers means no one works the whole day.
  • Helpers to assist in keeping garbage cans emptied.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY - RED BARN
  • There is always a coordinator for volunteers, so you will know what to do.
  • Shift workers in the Red Barn, usually a 2-hour shift. We need several people to cover all the jobs here.
  • Helpers to clean up Red Bard at the end of the day - wash dishes and counters, put away items, etc.
AT THE END
  • Help putting everything back where it belongs, mostly back in the Museum or Red Barn.

See now that's not too much to do! If we have your help!
