Featured Collection: Tina Mischke - A tribute to the late Princess Diana on the 20th anniversary year of her death
About a year or so after the tragic death of Princess Diana, the Franklin Mint received permission to recreate her image as, “Diana, Princess of Wales Porcelain Portrait Doll.” Along with the doll was the option to purchase her wardrobe collection of most photographed outfits with all the accessories that she wore to functions in her lifetime as Princess of Wales.
My mother decided to purchase this beautiful doll for me, after seeing an advertisement in a magazine. There were shipments of different outfits in three-month intervals to purchase, so it was possible for me to change her garments as I chose. I decided to keep them as is in their boxes. Each outfit came with a short de- scription about it and what function Princess Diana wore it for.
Since this year marks the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing I chose to bring the doll in to display along with the garments as a celebration of the Princess and the good she tried to accomplish in the time she was here on earth. She set a good example for her sons and they have grown into fine young men. I think that she would be very proud of them as they try to continue her good works.
